Staycation, Day 1

September 8, 2009

I’m not sure if it’s Day 1 of our staycation or not. Our weekend was so fun, it seemed like it started a few days ago! We spent the weekend going to the State Fair on Friday night and then canoeing on Saturday morning. Sunday evening found us devouring ice cream at our favorite farm, Broom’s Bloom Dairy. Labor Day the boys got their very own Thomas the tank engine and that pretty much made their day! They carry them around everywhere and even take them to bed!

But here we are, on the first day of our official staycation.

We went to a local beach that friends and family had told us about but we’d never been to. It was great! Sandy beaches, clean facilities, playgrounds, and picnic tables made it easy to spend hours there. I definitely can’t wait to spend some time there next summer and I’m sorry to have not visited it earlier.

Duncan and Owen loved playing in the water and sand, despite it being an overcast and slightly chilly day. My boys definitely love water, especially Duncan. He’s a regular little fish! Can’t wait for what adventures the rest of our week will bring!

    I love it…
I love that you guys are having a blast without even having to leave your home, and not spending a fortune to have some lifelong memories!
Thanks for the compliments on the article too. MUCH appreciated and VERY encouraging to me. (especially coming from you)

What fun! I can see us doing a Staycation next summer since we only do the beach thing ever other year. It’s amazing how many things you find to do when you stop to brainstorm and research.

At first glance I thought your sand and water pictures might have be taken where Baltimore County has their Sailing Club. Pete and I used to do that some before the kiddos came along. That’s at the end of Route 702. We never went to the beach/swimming section–just saw it down the shoreline.
