Keepin’ it Cool, Keepin’ it Healthy

Now that the weather’s gotten steamy, cool treats are the best. Even better when healthy. Here’s what we’ve been enjoying lately . . .

Wild Purple Smoothie (My all time favorite smoothie)

1 1/4 Cups blueberries, fresh or frozen

1 Cup orange juice, chilled

2 Cups fat-free yogurt (I use Stoneyfield Vanilla)

1/4 Cup fat-free milk

Combine all ingredients in a blender. Blend until smooth. Pour into two large glasses. Serves 2

Per Serving: Cal 242, Fat 0.8 g, Fiber 2 g, Sodium 195 mg

OJ Vanilla Pops

2 cups orange juice

1 cup yogurt (plain or vanilla)

Blend until smooth. Fill up ice pop molds and stick them in the freezer until frozen. The boys also just like to drink this concoction as a smoothie too.

    I’ll have to try the OJ pops for our kiddos. They’ve been begging me for them.
