Before, Inbetween, and After

July 27, 2007

Here’s the long awaited pictures of some of the work we’ve been doing the past year.

We’ll start with the front porch. Here’s the front porch “before,” minus four bushes.

Front Porch Before

Here’s the porch “after.” The slate slabs were taken from some woods at my mom’s house. I plan on planting some crawling thyme between the slabs for fragrance and texture.

Now we move to the back of the house, which has been expanded thanks to our addition and now has a deck. Here’s the back before:

Finally we come to the kitchen. Here’s the kitchen in the “before” stage when we first moved in. Isn’t it lovely? We pulled up three layers of flooring.

And here’s the “inbetween” kitchen that we lived with for the past year and a half. Since there was no counter space by the stove, Josh built shelves (which were painted white, although they’re not in this picture):

And ta da! Here’s our almost done kitchen! We still need to refinish the floor and have some other minor “punch list” work to do. But all in all, here’s the finished product and we’re loving it!

This area will be our office/studio. It’s not yet organized, but we’re slowly getting there.

Thanks for coming on the tour!

Wow-ee! I just love the kitchen! And the French doors and style of the deck. It is so homey looking, all of it. Can’t wait to see it up close and personal. I’m amazed you did this in your maternal/paternal states over the past year. KUDOES!!!

Whoa! It looks so gorgeous. The changes are huge, I can’t imagine how much you’re loving it= especially now that you’re home more often! The kitchen is probably my favorite, however, that deck is looking super nice.

It was neat seeing your family at the farm fair. Did you guys have fun?

Thanks everyone. Most of the handiwork you see is all Josh!

Yes, Sarah, it was nice seeing you and Joel at the Farm Fair. We had fun and hope you did too.

Great kitchen! How important is the space in a kitchen; the hardwood floors and windows are beautiful. Congrats!
