Nickel Creek

August 7, 2005

One of my favorite bands, Nickel Creek, is releasing a new recording, “Why Should the Fire Die?” on August 9th. So excited about that. My appreciation for this band and their music has grown so the longer I listen to them. For those interested, they’re playing on Jay Leno’s Tonight Show August 9th. Check out their new video, When in Rome. AND they’re coming to Baltimore October 11th, playing at Rams Head Live. Anyone to go? (I know you do, AJ:)

Uh, I’ll be there….yeah right! 😛 (Amanda tried and tried to make me a converted fan, but her powers couldn’t budge me!)

DANIELLE!! ITS TRUE THEY ARE COMING TO BALTIMORE!!! And PHILLY and DC!! AHHHHH… so many opportunities. I went to Target right after work today and bought the cd. Its going to take a while for me to really get into it, but I spend too much time contemplating the music. I AM THRILLED!!!

Danielle, Justin converted me from thinking they were really toally annoying to actually using “The Lighthouse’s Tale” in our wedding! We’d love to go with you…and Ram’s Head is so close to us 🙂

AJ and RC: We should talk concert options. Rams Head or 9:30 Club in DC is fine with me! Josh votes for 9:30 Club because he likes the venue. I’ve never been to Rams Head, have either of you?

AJ, I went to Target yesterday and got the album. Really different from the previous stuff. Impressive, but yes, it takes a while. Josh and I were “contemplating the music” to the inth degree last night. I really think unless you know music (and theory) you can’t appreciate them so much, but maybe I’m wrong. Just watching Chris Thile rock out on the mandalin (sp?) is a joy in itself. Whenever I hear them now I can just see him going nuts in these songs. He’s so over-the-top passionate about music and it bursts out of him.

Girls, not that I’ve been to the 9:30 Club, but Miguel said it’s really dark! He is, well, a concert buff and really doesn’t like 9:30 at all! Just a thought from a concert lovers wife…

Well, gals, I have only given Nickel Creek half a listen in the car last night. It was unique. This was the new CD that Sarah gave Paul for a b’day gift. Paul says it was produced differently than previous one. having never heard their music and then listening to “different” kind of Nickel Creek CD, I will hold my comments until I’ve “processed” this CD. (IF I do.) I did like one line I caught about finding someone your height so you can see eye to eye. I teased my hubby that his next wife ought to be 6’4″.
